Henry T. Segerstrom – farmer, philanthropist, and visionary – died after a brief illness at the age of 91.
Segerstrom created South Coast Plaza and was the founder and major benefactor of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
I had an opportunity to know Henry and his wife Elizabeth while working on a project with them at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts over the last 15 years. They understood and deep appreciation for art and so I was honored that they trusted me to do personal photographic projects with them, C.J. Segerstrom & Sons and South Coast Plaza.
Growing up in Orange County I knew and appreciated how much Henry had done to help expose us to the best art in the world and I would thank him for that every time I saw him.
Henry always calls me by name, had a warm smile and handshake, and told me how much he appreciates my work every time I saw him.
I was very sad to hear the news of Henry's passing. I will miss him!
I was deeply honored to be asked by Elizabeth to document the public and private family memorials, which I did with a heavy heart.
