I photographed the AT&T Golf Classic that benefited the Boy Scouts of America, Orange County Council at the Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast on a day in which the temperature reached 98 degrees. My job was to tell the story of the day and also photograph all 70 four-some’s on both the North and South courses and provide 4 x 6 prints for the 280 golfers. It was already hot when I arrived at 9am and looking out at the 140 golf carts lined up everywhere it seemed like a impossible task to photograph all of those golfers but, with help of Kaleigh Teskey, the Market Specialist with the BSA Orange County Council we managed to complete that job in 4 ½ hours. Once back at the clubhouse I grabbed my computer, quickly edited the photographs, put the files on a thumb drive and drove to Pro Photo Connection in Irvine to make the prints - which they did much faster and cheaper than if I had printed them on-site. I returned in time to photograph the dinner, auction, awards presentation and had the prints ready for the golfers to take home. It was a much longer day because of the heat but, “we gotter done” before I melted. Once back in my air conditioned home I celebrated the success of the day with a nice cold beer and long, cold shower. Cheers!

I had the honor of photographing this years Boy Scout of America, Orange County Council, Eagle Recognition Dinner honoring the Eagle Scout Class of 2013 and Class of 2013 Silver Ventures in Garden Grove. My grandfather, dad, father-in-law, cousin and I are all Eagle Scouts so I appreciate what it takes to achieve this honor. Below is a portrait I took of the keynote speaker, Ted Hayes who is one of the formost Homeles and Civil Rights activist in the United States and shared some great words of wisdom. Congratulations to all the Scouts and their families!

We had another beautiful weekend for the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach 2014. I have photographed the TGPLB since 1981 and now hire, assign and oversee 20 other photographers that photograph the race weekend for the marketing department. We produce the photographs that you see on the website and in the programs, fan guides and marketing kits. Unlike editorial coverage of the race that focus tight on the cars and drivers, we take the photographs of the cars on the track with a wider lens to make sure we include the signage, bridges and people in the suites and the stands. Knowing how to photograph an event from a marketing perspective has lead to work for other events including the Sr.PGA Toshiba Golf Classic.
